We are members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a historical educational organization. The Society encourages members to live and experience the Middle Ages and Renaissance by wearing the clothing, cooking the food, donning the armor, fighting with the weapons, playing the music, and displaying both honor and chivalry, rather than reading about them in a book.

The Known World of the SCA is divided into kingdoms which are further divided into Baronies (and Cantons, Principalities, Shires, et al). Our shire is located in the Kingdom of Atlantia, which includes the mundane states of Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and a piece of Georgia. The Shire of Roxbury Mill encompasses most of Maryland’s Montgomery County. Our neighbors include the Barony of Highland Foorde, Barony of Lochmere, Barony of Stierbach, Barony of Bright Hills, Barony of Ponte Alto and the Barony of Storvik.

New to the SCA?
If you are new and are interested in the Society for Creative Anachronism, please contact our Chatelaine for more information. The Chatelaine is our Welcome Wagon and will do their best to get answers to your questions (we know you probably have many). So feel free to contact them with any questions you may have about the SCA, the Shire, our activities and what we do.

A recent transplant to the Shire?
The Chatelaine can tell you about what activities the Shire currently offers and make sure you get introduced to your fellow Shirefolk. They will also help direct you to your favorite activities in the area.
