A&S 2/18

From our MoAS:
Greetings to the Shire!

As the folks who were making chair covers have completed their covers (or nearly) as of last week. We will be starting on making scroll cases this Thursday (2/18) as Kingdom largess for Gulf Wars.

We have the supplies, (or rather, Jen Dostal will be bringing the supplies), we just need some extra hands to help cut fabric and cardboard, glue and assemble them into scroll cases.

As always, Thursday Arts &Sciences night is at Tikvat Israel Congregation (2200 Baltimore Road, Rockville, MD 20851) from 7-ish to 9 p.m.

Please note: Our site is HUUUUGE, so if scroll cases are not your thing, please feel free to come hang out, watch the fighting and fencing (2 lists! No Waiting!). We’d love to see your A&S work-in-progress.

A&S Jan 21

Ysabeau will be guiding folks through how to spiff up your camp, starting with making covers for modern-style camping chairs.
Bring your modern chair you want to cover on Thursday so it can be measured, and a notebook for sketching plans for covers. Sewing and no-sew options will be discussed.

December business meeting

The December business meeting has been postponed until January. With so many holidays packed in to December, the December business meeting has been postponed until January 3. Please join us January 3 in Olney, MD, as we do last minute preparations for Feast of Fools (January 16).

A&S Nov 19 2015

Our MoAS, Ysabeau will be teaching how to make 14th century style fabric buttons, so if you have garb that you want to make fabric buttons for, bring 1/4 yard of fabric, needle and sewing thread, and scissors/thread cutters. She will have spare practice fabric with her.

Sewing Circle, July 3 at the Sparks residence

Hello fellow Mill-ers!

Just a friendly reminder, this month’s sewing circle is set for July 3 at my house. email me if you need address and/or directions. Start time is noon to whenever, I have a serger and a sewing machine, but if someone could bring a second machine or serger, that may reduce sewing bottlenecks and be a big help.

Homebrew sampling will happen at some point during the day, and either grilling or pizza delivery depending on weather.

As the shire’s new MOAS, it was determined at the last business meeting that regular A&S activities on Thursday night with fight practice was a good thing. Thursday will be an open A&S night, so bring whatever projects you are working on. I am working on a list of topics for following weeks and will post them here and on the email list after the holiday.

If I don’t see you Thursday or Friday, have a happy holiday.

In service,

Julia Sparks
